Current obsessions & thankful Thursdays.

These are my current obsessions.  Which, naturally, I am quite thankful for, and will therefore link up with Julia to share.

Starbucks hot chocolate with a shot of espresso.  I’m a gateway-coffee drinker.  The vanilla lattes, etc.  Hot chocolate with a shot of espresso gives me the perfect jolt of caffeine with plenty of chocolatey goodness to make it go down real smooth like.  It’s not a mocha, even though the Starbucks people will sometimes try to convince you it is.  This is sweeter.  And if I’m feeling particularly naughty, I’ll have them add a little peppermint syrup.  Tastes like Christmas.

Lace.  So feminine.  So delicate.  But in so many fun colors to push it over the edge to complete awesomeness.

This song by King George.

Maybe it’s just because I saw him live and in person recently on his “Cowboy Rides Away,” final tour {could there BE a more PERFECT name for a final tour?}.  But I have this song playing in my head pretty much nonstop.  Oh Georgie.  He really is the King of Country.

Warm weather.  The grass is green, the leaves are showing their gorgeous little green selves, and flowers are blossoming.  And it’s just the beginning.

Homemade bread.  I recently made an impulse purchase.  A bread machine.  Neighbor has one and she shared a piece of the delicious bread with me one time.  And then I wanted to be just like her, so I bought a bread machine.  The first loaf tasted fine, but it fell when baking so it wasn’t very attractive.  The second – um, no – not edible.  Third time’s a charm though!  I used this recipe:  http://allrecipes.com/recipe/best-bread-machine-bread/.  The machine made the dough and then I said thankyouverymuch, put it in a bread pan, and baked it in the oven.  It tastes mmm-mmm good and it looks pretty too!

What are your current obsessions?  And/or what are you thankful for today?  Oh – and any bread machine bread recipes I should try?

I’m linking up once again to Thankful Thursdays with the lovely Julia

1. First and foremost today, I am thankful for my health and the fact that I finally alive again.  I’m breathing in air without feeling like my head is about to explode!  I’m able to stand up for an extended amount of time and not experience the slightest tinge of vertigo!  I’ve thrown aside the sweats and am wearing public appropriate clothing!  My hair is fixed and my face is sporting makeup!  Ah – it’s good to be back.

Thumbs up for feeling better. And taking a picture of oneself in poor lighting.

Thumbs up for feeling better.
And for taking a picture of myself
in poor lighting.

2.  And kudos to all of you for your sweet comments and well-wishes.  I am thankful for YOU.  It’s so neat that this little plot of the internet has brought web friends.

3. I am thankful for Shellac nails.  I am an official nail klutz.  It is impossible for me to paint my own nails and not have them look like a small child was playing nail shop with me as the customer.  And then it’s like I lead with my fingernail when I do anything with my hands because the paint chips in no time.  Enter Shellac.  I’m a convert.

4. I am thankful for new and exciting opportunities for a close friend.  She knows who she is.  And by golly, she has earned all the good things that are coming together in her life.  I wish I could spill the beans and tell you all the juicy details about the adventure on which she’s likely going to be embarking.  But it’s probably not my place to put it out on the internet before she does.  And now I have built up some crazy anticipation for you.  You’ll be on the edge of your seat all day.

5. And to wrap up the list of thankful proclamations, I am thankful for my future mother-in-law, with whom I am attending the Cinderella ballet this evening.  She bought tickets for my birthday earlier this month and show time is finally here.

What are YOU thankful for today?

Thankful Thursdays.

I am linking up with Julia at Black Tag Diaries on this lovely Thursday.  What am I thankful for, you ask?  [Or maybe you didn’t, but here you are, so you get to find out anyway.]

1.  Well.  I’m thankful for leftovers.  Last night I enjoyed a delightful dinner with K and my future in-laws.  Today I will be enjoying the leftovers for lunch.  I know lots of people who can’t get onboard the leftover train, but I love them.

2. I’m thankful for my job.  5 years with my company and I’m so fortunate.  I love my co-workers, I love my boss, I love that I can wear jeans to work every day… (I feel a bit like Jessica when she does her affirmations in the bathroom mirror).

I know it’s hard out there for many, and I know that I sometimes take my blessings for granted.  So on this Thursday I’m sayin’ typin’ it outloud – I am thankful to be employed and by a great company at that.

3.  I am thankful for the United States Postal Service.  For all they do in the elements – rain and snow and gloom of night, so forth and so on.  But especially for the wedding RSVP’s they have been delivering to my mailbox as of late.  It’s like Christmas every day!  Who is it from?  Will they attend?  Do they send their regrets?  Will they include fun little notes on the RSVP for us to read {thanks, Tiff – I very much enjoyed the post-it}?  It’s making my day each day.

What are YOU thankful for today?
